Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), I grew up understanding the values of hard work and ambition. My mother set an incredible example for me and my brother. After we fled the war in the DRC, while making a new life for ourselves in Kenya, she only solidified herself as a hero in my mind. She began serving the United Nations dedicating herself to fostering sustainable agricultural and small business development. Despite how hard she worked, she always took the time to guide me as well, preparing me to thrive in this world and to live a life of compassion and service.
Relocating once again, my family and I ended up in Canada. It was there that I found my passion for business, studying business administration and international development. During my time as a student, a family friend offered me an opportunity to make an investment in Congo, and I leaped at it. As it turned out, the whole thing was a sham, a Ponzi Scheme. That was when I knew what I was going to do with my life. My life’s mission became clearer than ever before. After graduating from York University, I took jobs in project management and credit development and finally became an Independent Financial Planner.
The Birth of Elleverity Wealth Management
With my passion and skills as a Financial Planner, I launched Elleverity Wealth Management. We are an independent wealth management firm whose passion and purpose intertwine to empower women to Speak, Walk and Own their financial truth.
Financial stability and independence is not just a nice to have, it is critical to your ability to live life on your terms and creating a financial legacy for your family.
In today’s world:
- By 2026 women in Canada will control close to half of all accumulated financial wealth which represents approximately $900 billion in financial and real assets over the next decade. Are we embracing financial literacy to manage it wisely?
- According to Statistics Canada, within five years of becoming a widow, irrespective of wealth status, newly-single women witness, on average, a 40% decline in household income.
- Women make 69 cents for every dollar earned by men, this reduction in income impacts CPP contributions as well as savings and investment potential. This means women are at a higher risk of falling into poverty if they have children and then become separated, divorced or widowed.
- Women tend to outlive their spouses by an average of 4 years (Average age for men is 80 years and for women is 84 years) and as a result, women face health complications due to this longevity and need financial and health planning.
With this peak into the financial truth for many women, at Elleverity we take the time to build the most achievable and personalized financial plans for busy women, their families and their businesses so that they can live their best life, maintain their ideal lifestyle and build multigenerational wealth.
